Atoyebi Advocates Enhanced Welfare Program for Wards of Security Personnel
The Convener of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ideological Group (BAT-IG), Honourable Bamidele Atoyebi, has called for the introduction of comprehensive health insurance coverage for the children of wounded, fallen, and retired Nigerian security personnel until the age of 20.
Honourable Atoyebi made this known during an interaction with the Chairman of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Mr. Sola Olofin, at the airport on Saturday morning.
The meeting occurred while Atoyebi was at the airport to see his wife, Arabinrin Aderonke Atoyebi, off as she departed for London ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s official visit to King Charles of the United Kingdom.
Mr. Olofin was also travelling in connection with arrangements to welcome the President during the official visit. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Atoyebi raised the issue of strengthening welfare support systems for the families of Nigerian security personnel who risk their lives daily to safeguard the nation.
According to him, children of security officers who are wounded, killed, or retired from active duty deserve sustained support, particularly in the area of healthcare, to ensure their well-being and future stability.
He explained that providing comprehensive health insurance for such children until they attain the age of 20 would not only demonstrate national appreciation for the sacrifices of security personnel but would also help ease the burden on affected families.
Honourable Atoyebi also used the opportunity to formally invite the NSITF Chairman to an upcoming awareness and empowerment programme being organized by the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ideological Group.
The event, scheduled for March 21, aims to raise awareness and provide empowerment opportunities for spouses of military and paramilitary personnel.
He noted that the initiative forms part of BAT-IG’s broader commitment to supporting the welfare of those connected to Nigeria’s security architecture, particularly families who often bear the emotional and economic impact of service-related risks.
Atoyebi further revealed that he had previously visited the NSITF Chairman’s office to discuss the proposed health insurance initiative but was unable to meet him at the time due to scheduling constraints.
Responding to the proposal, Mr. Olofin expressed appreciation for the initiative and acknowledged that while the NSITF does not currently operate such a programme, the idea is both timely and worthy of consideration.
He assured Atoyebi that he would present the proposal to President Tinubu upon his return from the United Kingdom.
Honourable Atoyebi reiterated that the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ideological Group remains committed to advancing the ideals and philosophy associated with the President’s leadership.
He emphasised that BAT-IG is not merely a support platform but a movement devoted to promoting the principles of existential and humanistic governance, with a focus on policies and initiatives that prioritise the welfare and dignity of Nigerians.
He added that initiatives such as advocating improved welfare for the families of security personnel align with the group’s broader mission of supporting people-centered governance and strengthening national solidarity with those who serve the country on the front lines.
BAT-IG is committed to facilitating Infrastructural and government intervention projects to the abandoned and neglected communities, Nigeria image branding, political impartation, conflict resolution, raising policies, economic and leadership giants. Also, the group is committed to training and building men and women who will become living carriers of the political spirit, ideology, vision and values of President Tinubu while countering misinformation and shallow criticism that often distort his achievements.
