BAT-IG Celebrates Grand Patron, Senator Abu Ibrahim’s Appointment as PCC Adviser, Hails AGF Lateef Fagbemi’s Inclusion in Legal Directorate
October 14, 2026
The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ideological Group (BAT-IG) warmly congratulates its Grand Patron, Distinguished Senator Abu Ibrahim, on his appointment as an Adviser to the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, while commending the inclusion of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, in the Council’s Legal Directorate.
These appointments recognise the value of experience, institutional knowledge, political commitment and legal expertise in advancing the Renewed Hope agenda and strengthening the structures working towards President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
For BAT-IG, Senator Abu Ibrahim’s appointment is particularly significant. A respected elder statesman, trusted political ally and father figure to the President, he has remained an influential presence in the political journey that culminated in President Tinubu’s emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate in 2022 and his eventual victory in the 2023 general election.
His longstanding relationship with the President, political experience and commitment to progressive politics have made him a valued figure within the party. His role in grassroots mobilisation and political consultations has also contributed to efforts to consolidate support for the President’s leadership.
As Grand Patron of BAT-IG, Senator Abu Ibrahim occupies a position of immense pride within our ideological family. We celebrate this well-deserved recognition and express our confidence that his wealth of experience, counsel and political wisdom will continue to contribute meaningfully to the success of the Presidential Campaign Council.
We regard his appointment not merely as a personal achievement, but also as a recognition of the enduring importance of loyalty, political mentorship, strategic engagement and sustained commitment to a shared national vision.
BAT-IG also extends its commendation to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, whose inclusion in the PCC Legal Directorate underscores the importance of sound legal strategy and institutional experience in the electoral process.
Under the administration of President Tinubu, the Federal Ministry of Justice has been involved in significant domestic and international legal proceedings concerning Nigeria’s financial interests, contractual obligations and sovereign rights.
Among the notable developments is the September 2026 International Chamber of Commerce arbitration decision in Paris concerning the Sunrise Power dispute, in which the tribunal rejected a $680 million claim against Nigeria. The Federal Government credited the Attorney-General and his team with contributing to the country’s defence in the matter.
Such outcomes demonstrate the importance of sustained legal representation, rigorous defence of the national interest and the protection of public resources against claims that could impose substantial financial liabilities on the country.
BAT-IG recognises the strategic importance of these responsibilities, particularly at a time when Nigeria continues to pursue economic reforms, strengthen public institutions and protect its fiscal interests. We commend Prince Lateef Fagbemi and the legal professionals working with him for their contributions to the administration’s efforts to defend Nigeria’s position in important legal disputes.
His inclusion in the Presidential Campaign Council’s Legal Directorate brings valuable experience to a team tasked with addressing legal considerations associated with the forthcoming electoral contest. We are confident that his professional expertise will contribute to the Council’s preparedness and adherence to the applicable legal framework.
As Nigeria approaches another defining electoral cycle, BAT-IG believes that the combination of experienced political leadership and competent legal representation will be important to the campaign’s organisation, credibility and overall effectiveness.
We therefore congratulate Senator Abu Ibrahim on his appointment as Adviser to the Presidential Campaign Council and commend Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, on his inclusion in its Legal Directorate.
We equally congratulate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress on assembling experienced political leaders and professionals to support the Council’s responsibilities.
As an ideological movement committed to promoting the President’s policies, communicating the achievements of the administration and mobilising informed support for the Renewed Hope agenda, BAT-IG remains confident that the collective experience of these distinguished individuals will strengthen the campaign’s engagement with Nigerians.
We celebrate our Grand Patron, Senator Abu Ibrahim, and salute the Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, for their respective contributions to the political and legal responsibilities entrusted to them.
Signed:
Comrade Bamidele Atoyebi
Convenor,
Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ideological Group (BAT-IG)
