The management of Seplat Energy Plc has disclosed that the company has ended routine gas flaring in its onshore operations in Nigeria.
Speaking during a media chat over the weekend, the Chief Operating Officer/Executive Director, Mr. Samson Ezugworie, said the achievement was part of the company's commitment to end routine gas flaring across its operations by the end of 2025.
"In our onshore operations, covering both our western and eastern assets, we successfully ended routine gas flaring across all our onshore operations as of the end of last year," he said.
Continuing, he explained that the company has invested in the Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) as part of policy to ensure its availability and making prices affordable to consumers in the country.
According to him, the commitment was sustained with the establishment of an LPG plant in Sapele, Delta State. He also added that the first trucks of LPG bottles were offloaded from the plant on April 20, 2026.
"We are committed to contributing to LPG and cooking gas in the country. We already have the plant in Sapele. The plant is not somewhere else but in our area of operation," he said.
He assured that the company is committed to deepening oil exploration in the country and its corporate social responsibility to its host communities.
